Program Information:
The Jr. High Orchestra consists of 7th and 8th-grade students. The orchestra meets every other day (alternates with Physical Education). Students who choose to be in both orchestra and choir will attend orchestra 2/3 days and choir 1/3 days (ie. orchestra day 1, 3; choir day 5). Orchestra students are scheduled for one pull-out lesson every 6 days, and for full credit must attend 5/7 lessons per quarter. Shared students will divide their lessons between ensembles.
The orchestra performs at a winter and spring concert (dates available on the music home page) which counts as the students' midterm and final. All concerts are mandatory.
The Sr. High Orchestra consists of 9th-12th grade students and meets every day. Students who choose to be in both choir and orchestra meet every other day alternating with choir. The orchestra performs at a winter and spring concert (dates available on music home page). All performances are mandatory as they count towards the final grade.
The Chamber Orchestra consists of advanced 9th-12th grade orchestra students and meets every day. This ensemble is only for select students who meet the requirement of a NYSSMA Level 5 or 6 95 or higher. as it performs a more difficult repertoire at various events throughout the year. Students who choose to be in both choir and chamber orchestra meet every other day alternating with choir. The chamber orchestra performs at a winter and spring concert (dates available on music home page) as well as at the Carillon Nursing Center and NYSSMA Majors. All performances are mandatory as they count towards the final grade.
