At the July 9 Board of Education meeting, the board was pleased to appoint and welcome the district’s new Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources, Dr. Candice Brodie. With more than 25 years of experience in the education sector, Dr. Brodie has held significant leadership roles and brings extensive experience to her new role. Her educational journey began at SUNY Albany, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Rhetoric. She then obtained a Master of Arts in Secondary Social Studies Education from Queens College, followed by a Doctor of Education in Administration and Instructional Leadership from St. John’s University. Her impressive career path began as a social studies teacher for 11 years at North Shore High School in Glen Head, coordinating their International Baccalaureate Program as well. She joined the Baldwin School District as their Supervisor of Secondary Social Studies in 2017 and was appointed as their Assistant Principal in 2018. Since 2019, Dr. Brodie has been the principal at Lindenhurst High School, devoting her focus as principal with a passion for curriculum and instruction practices that foster student centered learning and a rich educational environment designed to offer students rigorous, standards aligned programs to inspire their thinking and lifelong love of learning.
Dr. Brodie is not only a powerhouse professionally, but a force to be reckoned with personally! She awakes each day at 4 AM for her CrossFit workout and is an avid fitness and nutrition advocate. She has one son who is 23, and a beloved yellow lab named Maximus Decimus Meridius (Max for short!). She is very excited to join the CSH administrative team, and meet the students, staff and community. She shared, “I love what we do as educators and constantly seek ways to best serve our students to ensure we are preparing them to go out into the world and be good humans who find every success they pursue!”
We warmly welcome Dr. Brodie to the Cold Spring Harbor family and wish her the best of luck in her new role.
