This oblong one room school house, District #5, was also known as the “Brickyard School”. It was built in 1827 by Gilbert Crossman (brickyard owner), and was located in Lloyd Harbor. The children of the workers of the local brickyards attended the school. In 1904, school authorities in Albany condemned this school house and said that a different facility must be built. It was sold at auction on July 16, 1904 to W. J. Matheson for $1,250.
