D. The Upper West Neck School before 1873-1904

  • This oblong, one room school house was located on leased property in Lloyd Harbor. The earliest records of this School District #2, found by Rose Dean, date from 1873, though the school was certainly in existence long before this. In 1904, school authorities in Albany condemned this school house and said that a different facility must be built. It was sold at auction on July 16, 1904 to Susan Sammis for $496. Around 1916, the school house was sold to Mrs. Charles Homer Davis and moved across the street, and up the hill where it was placed adjacent to her house.
