Superintendent’s Conference Day

Schools may have been closed to students on Nov. 5, but staff and administration led the charge for the second Superintendent’s Conference Day of the 2024-2025 year. Superintendent Conference Days are a time to gather with colleagues for workshops and discussions to further learning opportunities and best practices that help connect staff districtwide for professional growth, both as individuals and team members. It is a unique platform to come together, share experiences and gain valuable insights – harnessing new ideas and innovative approaches.

After welcoming remarks from Superintendent Joseph Monastero, breakout sections in classrooms were bustling with workshops and discussions with Collegial circles throughout the day. Various staff mentors taught a myriad of topics including Parent Square (a new communication platform), Gizmos (an interactive math and science tool), Canva (design platform), Newsela (diverse leveled reading materials), STAR assessments reviews and reports, BOCES & BARS Reporting Systems, Ally Audiobooks, Naviance (college and career readiness), Responsive Classroom SEL Learning, Effective Lesson Planning, Literacy Training, Math Centers – and so much more. These workshops were focused on clarity in collaborative planning, analyzing assessment data to identify student needs and creating success in the classroom. It was an immeasurable experience dedicated to building relationships with colleagues through collective wisdom and a network of support.

Thank you to our staff for leading these work sessions and being role model for meaningful change; to be curious, collaborative and open to new learning so we can inspire our students to not only be prepared for the real world, but also ensure that they want to make the world a better place. Thank you to our Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction, Genevieve LaGattuta for spearheading this extremely thoughtful and insightful day of learning to empower and build a culture of caring and greatness while embodying the power of a growth mindset - knowing that learning cannot be overstated.
