8th Grade Moving Up Day
Congratulations to the 8th graders - Class of 2028 who officially held their “Moving Up” ceremony to the high school! As the students commemorated this milestone event, Principal Danbusky acknowledged that the diploma and handshake are an official welcome to the High School. You will now be called Freshman, and that carries tremendous responsibility, many new opportunities and meaningful new experiences.
Principal, Daniel Danbusky reminded them, “I have had the privilege of watching you grow and mature from that group of eager and anxious young teens who came into 7th grade afraid of where your lockers were and would you be able to open them, or would your friends be in your lunch period, and that fear of getting lost.” His wish was for every rising freshman to be ambitious, yet realistic, to set both academic and personal goals and to remember, “Success is not always measured by grades alone, but also by the relationships you build, the character you display, and the impact you have on those around you. Be kind, compassionate, and supportive of your classmates, as they too embark on this exciting journey alongside you.”
Assistant Principal to the Junior High, Caitlyn Harman, reflected upon embracing the endless possibilities, successes, challenges and opportunities for growth ahead. “Setback are stepping stones to success…you have the power to make a difference in the world with an open mind and courageous spirit!
Newly appointed Superintendent of Schools, Joseph Monastero, also offered his encouragement,” Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone by trying new things and discovering your passions. The power of a growth mindset teaches us that our abilities and intelligence are not fixed traits, but rather they can be developed through hard work, dedication and resilience.” It was an affirmation to never give up, and accept “I might not be able to do this ‘yet,’ but with effort I will improve.” Success is never a straight line, what matters is how you navigate each turn, each set-back, and how you push forward willing and learning to grow.
To all the families, your unwavering support and numerous sacrifices you have made in your children’s educational journey have been invaluable. And to all teachers and staff, your dedication and commitment to each student’s success have made this journey possible. It is with sincere gratitude and pride that the administration, Board of Education and district wish these students great success as rising freshman. Congratulations 8th graders, and welcome to High School!
