As everyone is gearing up for the anticipation of this Saturday’s Remembrance Bowl event at Locust Valley High School (the first ever played on U.S. soil!), CSH is engaging in pre-game ceremonies to teach students the significance of this occasion. Students in grades 9-12 gathered in the PAC Thursday afternoon for a very special presentation hosted by the Patton Foundation and Operation Democracy.
As part of the Sandy Hook Promise organization, thousands of schools and youth organizations nationwide participate each September in “Start With Hello Week,” a national call-to-action week dedicated to making new social connections and creating a sense of belonging among youth. Cold Spring Harbor is proud to be a part of this movement that wants to create a culture of kindness and belonging.
Not many people have the chance to meet one of only seven living artists featured in the Louvre. And how many can actually say they stood and painted beside him? That is exactly what our students in AP art experienced the morning of September 18th as we welcomed world renowned Artist Domingo Zapata to speak to grades 10-12.
It was all smiles welcoming back our students the first week of school! Students piled out of buses gathering in the gymnasium for morning assembly to soon hear the chiming of the bell with echoes from 1790 "ringing in" the traditional first day of school - along with its storied history regaled by teacher, Bill Arloff, along with some welcoming words from the Superintendent.
Superintendent’s Conference Days are a time to gather prior to the opening of school, and greet colleagues while sadly embracing the end of summer. Yet, the first day of school also brings with it the excitement and energy of students filling the hallways and classrooms revitalizing the buildings once again.
Please join Cold Spring Harbor Central School District in welcoming our newest trustees to the Board of Education! Ms. Kate DelliCarpini, Ms. Lisa Smith and Mr. William Wollman were elected on May 16 and were officially sworn in on July 1st to begin their tenure.
